University 3rd year blogs

In 2018, I created my blogs as part of my Science and Employability module in my 3rd year at Bangor University.

Students were tasked with writing 6 blogs from seminars they attended throughout the year. These were usually guest speakers who would come and talk to university societies about their field of work, although students could blog external speakers, as long as they could be linked to science, especially zoology.

The 6 I decided to blog were:

A further objective for students was to attend 3 workshops throughout the year. They would have to note down what was important before writing their blogs at home.

These 4 workshops were aimed to help students prepare for life after university. The first of these was a CV Workshop. This allowed students to look at their CV’s and alter them, if needed.

The following workshop was on Assessment Centres. This was something completely new to myself and one that I particularly enjoyed.

The final 2 work shops were similar and designed to assist students who one day want to set up their own business. The first was designed to help create a Business Plan The final workshop was a Dragon’s Den style afternoon in which we all presented an idea to the class.

Each blog had to be between 300 and 500 words, making it difficult what to pick and choose we could include in each of our blogs.

To round off the modulde, a 1000 word summary on all seminars and workshops was completed.

I have decided to keep all of these blogs accessible as I think some of the topics are extremely interesting. Also, they are a reminder of the work I spent much of my time on in my 3rd year of university.
